It gives me immense pleasure to learn that along with the rest of the world, the A&N Islands is also celebrating "World Tourism Day" befittingly on 27th September, 2023. It was on this very day in 1980 that the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) came into being.

The theme for this year's celebration, “Tourism and Green Investments”-highlights the need for more and better-targeted investment for people by investing in education and skills, by investing in sustainable infrastructure and accelerating green transformation and prosperity by investing in innovation, technology and entrepreneurship. Several activities as per this year's theme are being fervently carried out in the Islands.

Shri M. Vinod, President, Andaman Association of Tour Operators along with all its members have greeted all the visiting tourists and islanders on the occasion of World Tourism Day. Vinod in his message said, “It gives me immense pleasure to greet you all on this World Tourism Day. This is a chance to reflect on the importance of our sector. Tourism is a pillar of our economies. It plays a central role in our societies and in our individual lives. And it offers solutions to some of our biggest challenges – including the climate emergency and the urgent need to shift to more sustainable economies”.

As we celebrate World Tourism Day today, it is with great pleasure and gratitude that I extend my warmest greetings to Stakeholders and Partners in Andaman's Tourism Industry, who play an integral role in making Andaman a sought-after travel destination.

Tourism in Andaman is not merely an industry; it is a vibrant tapestry of experiences, memories, and the warm hospitality that Tourism stakeholders of these Islands offer. Each one of you, whether you are a tour operator, a hotelier, a guide, or any other contributor to this industry, plays a pivotal part in shaping the memories of our visitors.
